Title: University syllabus in SCM
Presenters/hosts: Lars Bendix (Datavetenskap, LTH) and Ulf Asklund (Sony Ericsson)
At LTH we have a course dedicated to SCM. We are in the process of re-designing the course, and as we see that most of our graduates go to industry, we would appreciate any input, ideas and opinions we could get from industry.
There are various teaching activities on the course (lectures, exercise sessions, tool labs and a group project). For each of these activities we are looking for ways to relate the activity better to situations that the students will/could meet later when they start working.
René Schaap presented the ideas of the iNTCCM at the SCM day and there is certainly inspiration to pick up there. But there must be more to the story - especially as our course has more time and aims "higher" than the present iNTCCM foundation level.
So if you have ideas for what contents could be important in your company, what skills you would like future employees to have, small examples that the students can work from and discuss, suggestions for a more substantial project - then show up and let your voice be heared in the discussion. The letter to the editor of Ingeniøren written by Mogens Dybæk Christensen seems to indicate that universities in general do not educate their students the right way.
The Coffee Meeting will start with a short presentation of the present course and the main ideas behind it.
