Title: SCM in an OSS context

In the often cited paper, Asklund et al. give an analysis of how configuration management is carried out in open source projects and what traditional projects might be able to learn from that. The paper is now ten years old and muche water has passed under the bridge since then:

• Open Source projects have matured SCM wise
• Open Source is now being integrated in industrial products. Either by companies running OS projects, companies using OS components in their products, or companies participating in OS projects (that they then used in their products)

The purpose of this CMCM is two-fold:

• to sketch a quick overview of how state-of-the-practice in SCM had advanced for OS projects
• to start a discussion on what SCM is needed for an industrial-OS mixed setting where a company uses OS products in (parts of) its own products

The outcome of the CMCM could be the creation of a special interest group for continued discussions and investigations on SCM and OSS.
