Title:Experience with SCM and DevOps
Hosts: Christian Pendleton - Praqma AB
Lars Bendix - sneSCM.org.
Software configuration managers (SCM) have experienced that SCM can be helpful in keeping various kinds of projects “under control”. DevOps practitioners might rather want to avoid having to do some of the “keeping under control” things in order to get some “real work” done instead.
Wouldn't is be nice if we could reconcile these two - apparently opposing - worlds?
There is an established body of theory, principles and practices for SCM, but maybe they need to be applied in different ways on DevOps projects. We have looked deeper into this and will present a number of SCM principles that could be helpful for DevOps projects and we will explain how they should be adapted to your DevOps context. We will share our personal experience with SCM in Agile and DevOps contexts as well as report from industrial (and academic) experience.
We look forward to a very interactive session with constrictive audience participation and a lot of feedback from DevOps and SCM practitioners.
