Variant management of source code is fairly understood and there are mechanisms for handling that, but when the development context grows to include also different kinds (and versions) of data for different variants, the situation becomes more complex. When this data is kept in a "database", things like version control, data validation and a better database structure or overview might be needed. What are the best practices to structure and organize a database that will handle variants?
