Place: SimCorp's facilities in Weidekampsgade 16, Copenhagen

Title: Consolidation of repositories

Host: Niels Harre

We have in SimCorp over the years used a variety of version control systems (CVS, Subversion, TFS, Source Safe, and a homemade version control system). The version control systems, especially the our homemade version, are tightly coupled to our very advanced, and also homemade, configuration system. We are considering to migrate to Git or Perforce (and their respective tool stacks). We are using an interpreted language that is very much dependent on having an installation with a lot mutable binaries for our development environment.

Come and help us to shed some light on how we can achieve this consolidation. What obstacles should we be aware of? In what order should the consolidation be executed? Should we keep the entire history? We have a lot of open questions, so come and help us by sharing your insight.
