How to introduce SCM in 90 minutes - Lars Bendix
In this Open Space, I would like to discuss what is the central, essential core of
Software Configuration Management that all university graduates should know
something about.
So, what are the SCM concepts and principles that everyone should have heard about?
What is the sub-set of this that they should also understand? And will it be possible
in 90 minutes to arrive at some SCM concepts and principles that they are able to
carry out?
The context of the discussions is that I have the following material:
- A lecture note that it should take the student 6 hours to read
- A two-hour lecture motivating and introducing various parts of SCM
- A two-hour optional exercise sessions where they discuss SCM
- A two-hour optional version control lab where they practise
So, all in all a little more than 90 minutes ;-) but hopefully a sufficiently small
"unit" that other universities can and will pick it up. If they do, your feedback
on whether or not it is the right stuff I have put in will be very valuable.
