Software Configuration Management

sneSCM.org has come a long way since its start. So now that we are coming of age, it is time to adapt to a new and different reality.

sneSCM.org started out very informally in Lund, Sweden - expanded to Skåne (hence the first S in sneSCM.org) and became slightly more formal/organized - then went on to include all of Sweden - and pretty soon also other Scandinavian countries. Ten years ago a "satelite" was started in Italy and over the years it has grown to be a significant part of the participants in the sneSCM.org network. Due to the pandemic we had to go on-line with our activities and we have continued with a hybrid format for most of our activities. This means that the interest in sneSCM.org activities has expanded to other European countries and even the US and other countries around the globe.

Given the current state we have decided that it is time for some changes:

• we will use the name "sneSCM.org" for the network as it directly promotes our web-site and makes it more visible
• we will continue to use the acronym sneSCM, but for the full name we will change Scandinavian into Specialist. It was the best S-term we could find :-) and then it underlines that we are in fact specialists
• front page "design" - to highlight our three main activities they have been brought up to the front page
• front page "design" - likewise with the "SCM resources" page that has been brought up to the front page
• in the future we will have two mailing lists: one for activities in English and one for activities in Italian - you can be on one or both lists
• any other ideas (change requests) from the participants in the sneSCM.org network
